Brighten Up Your Home With Gerbera Daisies

Gerbera daisies are a genus of plants that are members of the sunflower family. The genus was named in honor of the German naturalist Traugott Gerber, a friend of Carolus Linnaeus.

Gerberas are easy to grow in pots or the ground, just place in sun to partial shade, and ensure they have good drainage (they donโ€™t like wet feet). They make excellent cut flowers, come in many colors, and are a great way to brighten up a home.

If you plant them in the garden, take care to bury all the roots but not the crown (the place where the roots join the leaves). Be sure to protect them from snails and feed often with a complete fertilizer. Allow gerberas to dry out slightly between waterings.

Gerberas are colorful and popular plants, and make great gifts, as well as great additions to your own garden.
